Single-use plastics (SUPs) are defined as products intended to be used only once or for a short period of time before being discarded. Plastic packaging and service items such as shopping bags, garbage bags, forks, spoons, knives, stir sticks, cups, plates, straws, coffee capsules, coffee lids, and similar products are considered SUPs.
The GEMABiO® Series of compostable, biodegradable, and bio-based bioplastic compounds provide green and sustainable alternatives for the production of SUPs. This series is designed for applications such as blown and cast film, injection moulding, and thermoforming, and can be easily processed using conventional plastic processing equipment.
The GEMABiO® Series bioplastic compounds comply with EN 13432 and ASTM D 6400 standards and are certified as “OK COMPOST INDUSTRIAL.” In addition, the biobased carbon content of our products has been determined according to EN 16640 and ASTM D 6866 standards and certified as “OK BIOBASED.”
